A BRIEF REPORT OF YOUTH RED CROSS UNIT
The Red Cross Society is a worldwide, well known, universally accepted, admired and internationally identified humanitarian service organization. It is the biggest , independent non-religious, non-political, non-sectarian and voluntary relief organization treating people equally all over the world without any discrimination as to their nationality, race and religious belief. It was established in 1863 in Geneva, Switzerland. The father of Red Cross movement and recipient of noble award for peace in 1901 was “JEAN HENRY DUNANT”.
Humanity, Impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality : these seven core values provide an ethical, operational and institutional framework to the work of the Red Cross and Red crescent Movement. The motto of Red Cross is “With Humanity, towards peace”.
2020 is Here ..!
Let us unite to celebrate and respect the contribution made by the volunteers to the welfare of Humanity.
The objective of conducting any program or activity under IRCS-KSB/ YRC at college level is to provide career guidance and other skills for students/volunteers to improve their overall personality. The workshops/activities also aim to provide deeper insights and to cultivate critical thinking among today’s youth.

NSS REPORT

The National Service Scheme is an Indian Government sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India, popularly known as NSS. The scheme was launched in Gandhi’s centenary year in 1969.

 

Aimed at developing students’ personality, through community service, NSS of MEI Polytechnic has a strength of over 100 volunteers who have enrolled their names in it.

 

NSS class will be conducted for the volunteers on every Saturdays and on special days obligated to the nation. The classes contain theory, cleaning activities, social awareness programs, etc. And every year special camps will be conducted for the volunteers.

 

During the year 2019-20 our volunteers have taken part in the following activities:

 

·         Independence Day

            Independence Day was celebrated on 15 August 2019.

·         Sadbhavana Divas:

            Sadbhavana Divas was celebrated on 20/8/2019. On that day all the students and staff

            took an oath.

·         De-worming Day:

           It was celebrated on 25/9/2019. Albendazole tablets were distributes to students of   

             the Polytechnic on that day.

·         NSS Day Celebration & Electoral Literacy Club:

          NSS Day Celebration and Electoral Literacy Club was opened on 24TH September

            2019.

·         Tree Plantation:

             It was conducted at campus of Mechanical Department and Electronic Instrumentation & Control Department on

                23/9/2019.

·         Vigyan Jyothi:

          NSS program officer and the volunteers participated in VigyanJyothi Program Launch

            of 107th Indian Science Congress at Gandhi Krishi Vigyan Kendra (GKVK), Bengaluru.

·         Nation Youth Day:

            The Principal, Staffs and Students Participated in Vivekananda Jayanthi Celebration

            as National Youth Day in the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium on 12/1/2020.

·         Voter’s Registration Program:

            It was conducted on 7/1/2020. In the program the Principal, NSS program Officer &

            BBMP Tax Inspector Sri. Jagadev, Revenue Inspector Smt. Bhagya Lakshmi, Booth

            Level Officer Smt. Channamma & Anjanadevi were present and distributed forms.

·         National Elector’s Day:

            It was celebrated on 25/1/2020. Both Students and Staffs took an Oath.

·         Republic Day :

             It was celebrated on 26/1/2020.

·         Martyr’s Day:

             Martyr’s Day was observed on 30/1/2020.

·         Campus Cleaning:

1.      On 13th February EI&C Department cleaned the campus.

2.      On 15thFebruary ,EI&C Department cleaned and separated the waste as plastic and  biodegradable waste.

3.      And the bio-degradable waste was buried in the soil.

Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Red Cross Unit and NSS Held On 26th February 2020.

 

ANNUAL SPECIAL CAMP

 

The Annual special camp was held at kadabagere village and Bangalore university NSS Bhavan Bengaluru from 6/2/2020 to 12/2/2020.
